Submission guidelines

All submissions should be sent to Elphrog@gmail.com by March 17th, 2010.  Please note length requirements for each category.  Query before submitting longer works.

POETRY:

  • You must be a currently enrolled member (student, faculty, or staff member) of any State College of Florida campus.
  • In the subject line of the email, write, “Poetry.”
  • In the body of the email, please include your full name, your pen name if you prefer one, your student ID number, the title of the poem (do not use “Untitled”), and the  line count of the work submitted. For example:
  1. Full name
  2. Pen Name
  3. Student ID Number
  4. Poem Title
  5. Line Count
  • Attach work as a .doc or .rtf file. Their must be an attached file of your poem. Do not include your name in the attached file(s) to allow fair editing and publishing decisions by the staff. If author’s name is included in the attached file, the submission will be dismissed.
  • Poetry should be no longer than 50 lines, using 12 point Times New Roman.
  • You may submit poetry in a language other than English, but must include the English translation in your submission. We reserve the right to change the format and/or background of all submissions. If the format structure is vital to the poem, indicate this in the body of your email, and we will make efforts to preserve the formatting.
  • Elektraphrog reserves the right to dismiss any work that is felt to be inappropriate, badly/poorly written, or uses copyrighted information.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words).

FICTION:

  • You must be a currently enrolled member (student, faculty, or staff member) of any State College of Florida campus.
  • In the subject line of the email, write, “Fiction.”
  • In the body of the email, please include your full name, your pen name if you prefer one, your student ID number, the title of the work (do not use “Untitled”), and the  word count of the work submitted. For example:
  1. Full Name
  2. Pen Name
  3. Student ID Number
  4. Poem Title
  5. Word Count
  • Attach work as a .doc or .rtf file. Their must be an attached file of your work. Do not include your name in the attached file(s) to allow fair editing and publishing decisions by the staff. If author’s name is included in the attached file, the submission will be dismissed.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words).
  • Work should be 12 point Times New Roman and no more than 3,000 words.
  • We accept cartoon articles as fiction.
  • Elektraphrog reserves the right to dismiss any work that is felt to be inappropriate, badly/poorly written, or uses copyrighted information.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words)

NONFICTION:

  • You must be a currently enrolled member (student, faculty, or staff member) of any State College of Florida campus.
  • In the subject line of the email, write, “Nonfiction.”
  • In the body of the email, please include your full name, your pen name if you prefer one, your student ID number, the title of the work (do not use “Untitled”), and the  word count of the work submitted. For example:
  1. Full Name
  2. Pen Name
  3. Student ID Number
  4. Poem Title
  5. Word Count
  • Attach work as a .doc or.rtf file. Their must be an attached file of your work. Do not include your name in the attached file(s) to allow fair editing and publishing decisions by the staff. If author’s name is included in the attached file, the submission will be dismissed.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words).
  • Work should be 12 point Times New Roman and no more than 3,000 words.
  • Nonfiction may include, but not be limited to: essays, critiques/reviews, personal philosophical/theological thoughts (these thoughts cannot be demeaning to different views, or with the appearance of forcing others to agree), etc.
  • Elektraphrog reserves the right to dismiss any work that is felt to be inappropriate, badly/poorly written, or uses copyrighted information.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words)

VISUAL ARTS/MULTIMEDIA:

  • You must be a currently enrolled member (student, faculty, or staff member) of any State College of Florida campus.
  • In the subject line of the email, write the appropriate subject that relates to the content (Video, Photography, etc.)
  • In the body of the email, please include your full name, your artist name if you prefer one, your student ID number, the title of the work (do not use “Untitled”), and the  medium (painting, photo, Photoshop, etc.). For example:
  1. Full Name
  2. Artist Name
  3. Student ID Number
  4. Title
  5. Medium
  • Attach your art as a .jpg file. There must be an attached file of your art. It should be at least 200×200 pixels.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words).
  • We reserve the right to resize artwork as needed.
  • If an artwork has the artist’s signature on it, digitally remove it so we may make our decision fairly. If your work is selected and you prefer your signature to appear on the artwork, we will be more than happy to receive a second file of the artwork if, and after, your art has been selected for publication. If you wish your signature be included, indicate so in the body of the e-mail containing your submission.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words)

ALTERNATIVE SUBMISSIONS:

  • You must be a currently enrolled member (student, faculty, or staff member) of any State College of Florida campus.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words).
  • Contact elektraphrog at Elphrog@gmail.com with a subject titled ‘alternative’ for submissions that do not fit any of the above categories.
  • With each submission, include a brief biography about yourself (no more than 150 words)

PUBLICATION:

  • If chosen for publication, we will notify you via the e-mail you made your submission through. If you are an artist who prefers a signature on the artwork, we will request another file from you. It MUST be the same artwork with the only additional changes being your signature.
  • There is no financial or academic reward for being published in Elektraphrog.
